There are thousands of people in our community who need assistance to start
on a path to self-sufficiency. These are individuals who face barriers to
finding a job. The barriers might be physical, mental, or situational. But,
with the right kind of help at the right time, they can overcome their
obstacles and become self-supporting. Goodwill provides that help. But we
can't do it without your support.
An example of one of the people Goodwill
helped this year is Will Boettcher.
A car accident left Will with a traumatic brain injury, his senior
year in high school. After seven
days in a coma, Will awoke to the realization that he would have to learn to
walk, talk, and eat again. Will
later received his GED as he lived with and assisted his father, who was
dying of terminal cancer. Will
also received his CDL, and worked for various trucking companies.
When Will came to Goodwill, he was having
trouble maintaining long-term employment, trying to overcome temporary memory
loss and bouts of depression.
Goodwill counselors assisted him in keeping detailed records of his
schedule, developing a resume, and interviewing skills. Goodwill employment counselors also
took Will to his interview and provided on-site job coaching once he got the
job. Will has been successfully
employed at Menards for the past one and a half years.
To continue this work for countless others,
we need your financial support. We ask you to search your heart and match the
importance of our work with a gift. We realize gifts come in a variety of
sizes and styles. Some examples of monetary donations include: cash,
charitable bequests under will, charitable gift annuity, pooled income fund,
charitable remainder annuity trust, revocable charity remainder trust, life
insurance, retained life estate, and charitable lead trust.
Your gift
will provide you with tax deductions, while enabling Goodwill to provide
quality programs that produce independent workers in the community. We not
only wish to receive your support - every day we're working to earn it.
