Goodwill Celebrates Mission at

51^st Annual Awards Banquet

Des Moines, IA – On Thursday, March 2^nd, Goodwill Industries of Central Iowa set the stage at Hilton Garden Inn in Johnston to honor individuals with disabilities at their 51^st Annual Awards Banquet.  The event is considered the agency’s greatest night, as a celebration of its mission to improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities and others with vocational disadvantages.

Several Goodwill clients were honored for their outstanding success in Goodwill's employment and training programs.  The agency’s most supportive community partners of 2005 were also honored.  Awards given were as follows:

·        Volunteer of the Year – Fellowship Community Church

                                            The Connection Student Ministries

·        Employer of the Year – ChildServe Childcare

·        Business Partner of the Year – Flynn Wright

·        Industry Partner of the Year – Electrolux Home Products

·        William M. Usdane Award – Nancy Mendenhall

·        Evelyne R. Villines Award – Floyd Harvey

·        Achiever of the Year – Rachel Berst

·        Graduate of the Year – Cristy Bowers

KCCI’s Mollie Cooney emceed the banquet, and the audience heard an uplifting, motivating message from Evelyne Villines, a long-time advocate for individuals with disabilities.
