What is the fastest way to connect with employers? Participate in a Goodwill Career Connection Center Hiring Event! Once a month, the Newton Career Connection Center (NCCC) holds a Hiring Event where job seekers can meet with and be interviewed by hiring employers.
On January 25, 2017 the NCCC connected Aventure Staffing, Graphic Packaging, Temp Associates and Trinity Structural Towers with 40 job candidates. The Newton Career Connection Center helped the candidates prepare by coaching them on the skills necessary to ace the interview! Hiring Events are beneficial to more than just the job seekers, think of them as a ‘win/win/win’ situation. Job seekers are able to meet with employers they may not have otherwise had access to, employers get to interview a great pool of candidates and Goodwill Career Connection Centers are able to improve the quality of life for all individuals by providing skills training and helping people find jobs.
Joe* came to the Newton Career Connection Hiring Event as a job seeker looking for a second chance. Finding employment had been a challenge for him due to his criminal background and substance abuse history. Through the support of the Newton Career Connection Center, Joe was able to participate in the Hiring Event and impressed the employment manager from Temp Associates. In just one afternoon Joe completed his application and interview and was offered a position. He started his new job the very next day!
