Losing your job, even one you weren’t fond of, is never easy. But don’t worry, you aren’t alone. Others have gone through this before and recovered. You can too. In order to move past this unfortunate event in your life, it’s important to focus on what you can control. You can control your emotions, the people you surround yourself with, and your skillset.
1. Know Your Value
It’s important to remember that business decisions are typically that, business decisions. They are based on what the business needs at that time and don’t deny the value you bring to the company or the skills you have. It’s important to remember that all of the skills and knowledge that you brought to the company – you still have! Don’t let someone else dictate your self-worth.
When you move forward with job interviews, it’s important to be confident in yourself. Review your resume or experience and remember the duties you held and the impacts you made on the company. Don’t shy away from this in your job interviews.
2. Find a Supportive Network
There are networking groups for every industry! It’s important to surround yourself with others who can relate to what you’re going through and have the relevant connections. Networking groups also often offer a sense of community, professional development opportunities, and job fairs that are tailored for its members.
