Goodwill of Central Iowa consistently strives to be at the forefront of empowering individuals through employment and training. Continuing our mission, we are thrilled to announce the launch of the Job Ready Pathways Skills Training Program. This initiative is uniquely designed to offer certification and paid training, spanning a comprehensive seven-week period aimed at equipping participants with the essential soft skills needed in today’s competitive job market.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Job Ready Pathways Skills Training Program utilizes the Conover Workplace Readiness curriculum, an acclaimed approach consisting of three learning series: Job Readiness, Job Seeking, and Job Keeping. The program will focus predominantly on the Job Readiness Series, equipping participants with crucial workplace skills such as communication, critical thinking, time management, teamwork, and professionalism.

Doug Snyder, a seasoned Skills Trainer at Goodwill of Central Iowa who will be heading up the program, shared what he hopes participants will be able to gain through their training.
“I know the Job Ready Pathways Skills Training Program has the ability to give someone who may not have had a job yet, or who faces challenges in life, a foundation to build on and the confidence they need to succeed,” said Snyder. “This program can be the beginning of a new life for someone. I am excited and happy to be a part of that process.”
WHY SOFT SKILLS MATTER
Soft skills are increasingly becoming the most essential skills in today’s workforce. They enable smooth transitions between tasks and adaptability to various work environments. According to a recent LinkedIn survey, 92% of talent professionals and hiring managers agree that strong soft skills are imperative to workplace success, often overshadowing technical abilities (LinkedIn Global Talent Trends 2019). Such skills refine the way participants engage with their work environment, ensuring not just employment but career sustainability.
Mary Hunter, President & CEO of Goodwill of Central Iowa, stresses the importance of the program.
“At Goodwill, we believe in building bridges. The Job Ready Pathways Skills Training Program is one of these bridges, offering valuable skills and real hope to those eager to engage fully with their communities through work.”
