Each month mission services team members at Goodwill of Central Iowa nominate clients for the Achiever of the Month Award. The winner is an individual who exemplifies our mission, values and vision by making progress toward his or her goals, having excellent attendance, being a good role model and having a positive attitude.

Mason Benki has been a part of Goodwill’s Work Development Program since August 2013. Mason wanted more for himself and knew that he wanted to work in the community. Mason took the first step by completing the Goodwill’s Career Exploration program, in which Mason learned of different careers available outside of Goodwill and met with employers in the community. He decided that the next step would be Supported Employment and to obtain community employment. Mason wasn’t sure if he would was completely ready to work in the community and wanted to learn a more so he independently signed up for training with the Iowa Work Force Development and completed the full week of classes. Mason is now ready to obtain a career in the community! For his eagerness to learn and striving to achieve his goals independently, we would like to recognize Mason Benki as achiever of the month for September 2017.” — Nathan Hanselman, Goodwill of Central Iowa Career Counselor
