Today and every day, we pledge to be inclusive. We pledge to increase inclusion amongst all people, including those who may have an intellectual or developmental disability.
This is the mission behind the global Spread the Word: Inclusion engagement campaign. To support the Spread the Word campaign, we spoke with a few of our Day Services participants. Goodwill of Central Iowa’s Day Services program is made up of individuals who have some type of disability. See their responses below.
Day Services participants also communicated through art why it’s important to be inclusive. This artwork is shared throughout our headquarters building to remind all team members of our daily mission; to change the lives of Central Iowans with barriers to employment by helping them earn and keep jobs through workforce training in our communities. Participant’s artwork is also shared throughout our Goodwill of Central Iowa retail locations, to give patrons insight on the programming their donations and purchases help support.
In this time of uncertainty, it’s most important to keep receiving donations and getting purchases so that we can continue to support programs like Day Services and Skills Training in the future. If you’d like to support your local Goodwill, please consider dropping off a donation, shopping in-store, or visiting ShopGoodwill.com/DesMoines.
