The Goodwill of Central Iowa Career Connection Center in Southridge Mall is offering its Career Fair for Untapped Potential on Tuesday, Feb. 24, from 9 a.m. to noon at the DMACC Center for Career & Professional Development at the mall, 1111 E. Army Post Road.
A series of special events are planned the week of Feb. 16 to get job seekers ready for the career fair. Career preparation workshops are being offered at both IowaWORKS, 430 E. Grand Ave., in Des Moines, and at the Connection Center. The schedule is:
Positive Attitude: Monday, Feb. 16, 4-7 p.m. at the Connection Center, AND Tuesday, Feb. 17, 9-10:30 a.m. at IowaWORKS
Career Planning: Tuesday, Feb. 17, 10:30 a.m.-noon at IowaWORKS, AND Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1-4 p.m. at the Connection Center
Industry Trends: Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1-4 p.m. at Iowa WORKS, AND Tuesday, Feb. 17, from 4-7 p.m. at the Connection Center
Resume Writing: Wednesday, Feb. 18, 9 a.m.-noon at IowaWORKS, AND Wednesday, Feb. 18, 4-7 p.m. at the Connection Center
The Job Search: Thursday, Feb. 19, 9 a.m.-noon at IowaWORKS, AND Thursday, Feb. 19, 4-7 p.m. at the Connection Center
Interviewing: Thursday, Feb. 19, 1-4 p.m. at IowaWORKS, AND Thursday, Feb. 19, 4-7 p.m. at the Connection Center
Maximizing Your Career Fair Results: Monday, Feb. 23, 2-4 p.m. at IowaWORKS, AND Monday, Feb. 23, 4-6 p.m. at the Connection Center
Workshop attendance is not required to attend the Untapped Potential Career Fair, but for each workshop you attend, you will receive one entry in a drawing to win an iPad and other prizes. Prize winners will be notified by Friday, Feb. 27.
The free event is being sponsored by the Career Connection Center, Des Moines Area Community College, the Iowa Department on Aging, IowaWORKS, DART, Iowa Employment Solutions at DMACC and Lifelong Links.
