On Nov. 5, Goodwill joined forces with DMACC’s Workforce Training Academy to offer the Connect With Employers Career Fair at DMACC Southridge. The event, which attracted more than 90 DMACC WTA students, proved to be a great recruitment strategy that allowed interested local employers and current students and job-seekers to meet and discuss job opportunities in central Iowa.

Sixteen employers attended the event, which began with an employer panel representing the industries of healthcare, administrative support, advanced manufacturing and transportation. The panel answered questions from the audience about hiring dos and don’ts, the work environment of their companies, and the attributes and values they look for in selecting ideal candidates.

The audience also heard from a former WTA student who recently completed her CDL Class A training and found a job with help from the WTA program.

Many employers then conducted on-site interviews with students attending and scheduled interviews for later.

Thanks to DMACC for this partnership that enables us to fulfil our mission of providing skills training and helping people find jobs!
