Goodwill is all about untapped potential. So, we were delighted to be a sponsor and organizer of this week’s Untapped Potential Career Fair at the DMACC Center for Career & Professional Development at Southridge Mall.
What an event it was! More than 350 job seekers attended the event Tuesday, Feb. 24, which drew about 50 area employers. Justin Bogers, the supervisor of our Career Connection Center at Southridge Mall, said a survey of participating employers indicated that 95 percent of them plan to return to the next such event. And, perhaps even more revealing, 46 percent of participating employers either hired job seekers on site at the fair or set up off-site interviews with folks attending. Also, Bogers said, many of those folks who attended also participated in a series of workshops the previous week to prepare for the career fair.
Nice work, Southridge Connection Center, for your hard work on this event. Here’s to more opportunities down the road to find untapped potential and to bring out the best in people!
