Thrifting your holiday gifts might be one of the best well-kept secret hacks for gift giving. We decided to stop by one of our Goodwill of Central Iowa locations as an experiment to see what finds we can stumble upon, and the results didn’t disappoint! The cliché that thrifting is a fulfilling treasure hunt is absolutely true, within the span of about 5 minutes, we found many incredibly unique and niche finds that we didn’t even know we could be looking for!
In this blog, we’ll share with you our favorite giftable finds that we found during our stroll. Each item in each aisle provided great gift inspiration and allowed us to think about our gifting process more holistically and intentionally. Who doesn’t want purposeful gifts that benefit our own local communities directly and provide support to programs that help maintain human impact and sustainability, for a fraction of typical prices? We know we do!
Some of the more unique items we were able to find included lots of books, vinyl records, board games, golf clubs and various sports equipment, dolls and toys, and many vintage gaming consoles and accessories. All gifts that offer a lot of personality and character for the right unique hobbyist in your life.
The kitchenware section contained some of our favorite gifts finds for any home chef that may enjoy new additions to their cooking and hosting processes. Rare appliances, quirky mugs, and dinnerware sets that suit any taste, style, and purpose! The possibilities are endless!
One of our favorite categories of finds was the many kinds of home decor items and ceramicwares. No better places to gift shop for any home decor enthusiast in your life than a thrift store where many unique and one-of-a-kind display pieces with a lot of history and personality exist. We found an unopened candle that we know would cost at least double the price elsewhere. We also were inspired by the incredible section of picture frames that are sure to help create a memorable gallery wall in any space. Items of all kinds, shapes, sizes, colors and metals, perfect for the unique decorator in your life.
Our many enlightening finds were found only in one store, within the span of 15 minutes of searching for purposeful gifts and items.
