Goodwill of Central Iowa is committed to providing jobs and job training opportunities for people facing barriers to employment. Our mission is to change lives of Central Iowans with barriers to employment by helping them earn and keep jobs through workforce training in our businesses and your communities.
Goodwill of Central Iowa employs people from all different backgrounds, who face all different types of barriers to employment. Part of our mission is to provide people with jobs so they can support themselves and their families, while supplying them the training and assistance needed to succeed. Read some stories about how our mission is alive, more than ever, within our own walls:
Leading up to the COVID-19 crisis, revenue from Goodwill of Central Iowa’s thrift stores funded a variety of different programs, allowing anybody facing a barrier to employment to access the paid training and personalized assistance for them to earn employment in our community.
As a non-profit organization, retail closures, as well as social distancing requirements and recommendations, prohibited us from funding important mission programs. We are so happy to have most of our stores opened back up so we can get back on our feet and provide important services to our community again.
Our mission work might look a little different as we recover from the impact COVID-19 had on our organization, but we exist because of our mission and we are committed deeply to growing our impact in the community as quick as we can.
