What Is a Donation CeNTer?

A Donation Center is an alternative location to our retail stores that makes it easier and more convenient than ever to donate your gently-used items! Our new Donation Center is strictly for donating items while our retail stores allow you to both shop and donate.

When you arrive at our Donation Center in Altoona, a Goodwill attendant will greet you to take your donations and ensure you are on your way quickly. Your items will then be sorted and distributed to our local Goodwill stores. The sale of donated goods in our retail stores helps support our mission of making purposeful employment possible for all central Iowans!

Please, note: Due to space constraints, the new Altoona Donation Center is unable to accept furniture. Furniture can be accepted at both our Ankeny and Des Moines East locations conveniently located within 15 minutes of the Donation Center.

Digital Donation Receipt

Goodwill of Central Iowa is dedicated to helping make donating easy and convenient for all members of our community. That’s why we now offer a Digital Donation Receipt!

Simply click the button below to fill out your receipt. A copy will be emailed to you for your records. Don’t forget to give your donation receipts to your accountant or tax prep specialist at the end of the year, as all donations made to Goodwill of Central Iowa are tax deductible!
