Individual Placement and Support (IPS)
Employer Connections That Work for You
Individual Placement and Supports (IPS) is a person-centered, zero exclusion, integrated services approach that leads to a competitive integrated employment. IPS Services are committed to competitive employment as an attainable goal for people with behavioral health conditions seeking employment. IPS Employment Specialists are closely integrated with mental health treatment teams, working out of their offices, to ensure that participant’s employment and mental health needs are addressed through coordination between staff and agencies.
IPS empowers people living with mental illnesses, substance use disorders, and other disabilities, to work at jobs they choose and enjoy.
IPS Employment Specialists focus on rapid job search through systematic job development by visiting employers to learn about their business and hiring needs and to help job seekers to obtain jobs directly, without preemployment assessments or training. Once a participant obtains employment, job supports continue in an individualized manner for as long as the working participant wants and needs support.
IPS operates under a zero-exclusion policy and participants are not excluded from services based on readiness, diagnoses, symptoms, substance abuse history, psychiatric hospitalizations, homelessness, level of disability, or legal system involvement.
