Our volunteer numbers are up! On Jan. 18, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we attracted 23 new volunteers who helped sort donations and arrange merchandise in our stores. Those volunteers – to whom we owe a huge thank you — gave a total of 78 hours of help that day to our retail stores in central Iowa. In 2015, Goodwill gained more than 1,200 volunteers who gave their time to complete a multitude of tasks for us. Our total volunteers for 2015 numbered 1,305.

We are very appreciative of our volunteers and the great work they do to help us fulfill our mission: to improve the quality of life for all individuals by providing skills training and helping people find jobs.

This year, we plan to expand our volunteer opportunities by creating in-store volunteering events on the Memorial Day and Labor Day holidays, and on Nov. 19, National Family Volunteering Day, which is always the Saturday just before Thanksgiving.
